About

Pandemic Precariat is a campaign made up of casualised workers and postgraduate students at the University of Edinburgh. Its aim is to challenge the University’s responses to the Covid-19 pandemic and demand that the most precarious and vulnerable members of the University are protected.

Although many of us work and organise within a number of other campaigns, movements, and organisations at Edinburgh and across the UK, we have chosen to operate Pandemic Precariat autonomously in order to focus on specific concerns around precarity arising from Covid-19 and to ensure that the campaign reaches as broad a base of University students and workers as possible.

We acknowledge and are immensely indebted to the extraordinary work of our comrades across the many groups who share our commitments and values. Pandemic Precariat exists in solidarity with UCU, Edinburgh Staff-Student Solidarity Network, Corona Contract, and many others struggling against commodification and austerity in higher education.
